The Work- Renewable Energy
The goal of ZEN is to eliminate fossil emissions. The best way to do this is to tie the home’s energy supply directly to a renewable energy source such as solar or wind energy. This can drive down a home’s energy costs almost completely!
Because this may not be possible for a particular home’s location, and because community net-metering is no longer available in Vermont, Zero Energy Now is allowing grid-tied electricity to be recognized as renewable to the extent that the utility’s energy portfolio comes from renewable sources, either within Vermont or from other states.
As a significant benefit, however, both to the home and to the grid beyond, site-based renewable energy – usually solar or wind – is strongly encouraged by ZEN! If a renewable energy system can be coupled with battery storage, it is possible to be completely fossil and grid-free for more than 9 months out of the year!
