  • Cornerstone Housing Partners

    Focused primarily on affordable housing for renters and homeowners, Cornerstone has inherited a robust energy efficiency program from NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, which merged with Cornerstone in 2024.  Their Heat Squad program, which operates in Windham, Windsor, Bennington, and Rutland Counties, and also in the Northeast Kingdom, offers energy audits, affordable energy loans, and project coordination.  They are also qualified to offer Efficiency Vermont rebates, and access to the Home Energy Loan – in addition to their own financing projects.

  • Efficiency Vermont

    Vermont’s statewide energy efficiency utility, whose mission is to save energy and energy-related costs, and, more recently, to reduce and ultimately minimize the state’s carbon footprint.  They are an enormous clearinghouse of information for homeowners and all other energy users in the state, and they sponsor several specific programs related to minimizing energy use and carbon emissions in buildings.  They also have developed enormous financial resources to provide specific incentives to help homeowners and businesses take action to save energy.

  • Home Performance with Energy Star

    A program of Efficiency Vermont offering substantial rebates to homeowners for completing weatherization work on their homes.  This program is implemented primarily through Efficiency Vermont’s Efficiency Excellence Network of qualified contractors.

  • Efficiency Excellence Network

    A network of contractors who have been certified in building science and/or their respective trades to complete energy audits,  projects involving weatherization, and installation of heating equipment and appliances such as hot water heaters.  They are the only group of contractors and consultants  authorized to obtain Efficiency Vermont rebates for homeowners, and also to qualify homeowners for Efficiency Vermont’s low interest Home Energy Loan.

  • Energy Action Network

    EAN is a network of several hundred member businesses, non-profit organizations, utilities, public sector groups, educational organizations, and individuals.  It strives to bring people with a variety of backgrounds together to work on and solve problems related to achieving Vermont’s energy and climate goals.  It also is focused on generating high-quality data and analysis with which to support the state and the network members in developing strategies to do this.  To that end, it produces an “Annual Progress Report on Energy, Affordability, and Emissions” a 40 page document with exceptionally detailed information and graphics on all Vermont’s energy-related concerns.  This is a remarkable document providing good information on what Vermont has achieved and what we all must continue to do to reach our climate goals.

  • Renewable Energy Vermont (REV)

    REV is partly a trade association for renewable energy contractors and businesses, and also an advocacy organization for maximizing the conversion of all energy systems in Vermont to those with renewable sources. It is also a resource for anyone interested in learning more about renewable energy and policies.

  • Rewiring America

    A national organization focused on electrification of all the country’s energy use.  From their website: “Rewiring America is the leading electrification nonprofit, focused on electrifying our homes, communities, and businesses. We develop accessible data and tools and build coalitions and partnerships to make going electric easier for households and communities. Rewiring America helps Americans save money, tackle nationwide emissions goals, improve health, and build the next generation of the clean energy workforce.”  The website is loaded with resources, information, planning aids and savings calculators, and news about the process of electrifying your home’s heating, appliances, and overall energy use.

  • Vermont Department of Public Service

    The Department of Public Service (PSD) is an agency within the Executive Branch of Vermont state government and is charged with representing the public interest in energy, telecommunications, water and wastewater utility matters.  They provide specific information, resources, and advocacy related to electric and thermal energy usage, energy cost, efficiency, net-metering, and ratepayers’ rights.

  • Vermont Energy & Climate Action Network

    VECAN is a network of over 100 Vermont town energy committees and the organizations that support them. Town energy committees are leading a powerful grassroots response to the pressing need to be more energy efficient and generate more in-state renewable energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.  VECAN provides direct support and communications to volunteer energy committees throughout the state, and advocates for better policy, incentives, and support for homeowners trying to reduce their carbon footprint.

  • Weatherization Assistance Programs

    These are regionally-based state agencies that provide cost-free weatherization assessments and installations in homes for qualifying customers, usually lower-income Vermonters.  They also provide advice and resources for a variety of energy related needs or concerns.  There are five separate agencies covering different parts of the state – BROC, Capstone, CVOEO, NETO, and SEVCA.
